Notice — document under review. This policy is a starting template drafted for Publicus Group. It must be reviewed and approved by legal counsel before being treated as final. For any question about how your data is handled, email [email protected].
Publicus Group ("we", "our") takes the protection of your privacy seriously. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, how we use it, and what your rights are. It applies to the publicusgroup.ca website, to the blog and the N.B. Digital Barometer (blog.publicusgroup.ca), to our newsletter and to our business communications. We comply with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
1. Data controller
Publicus Group, a digital agency based in Dieppe, New Brunswick, Canada. Privacy contact: [email protected] — +1 (581) 688-3346.
2. Data we collect
We only collect data needed for the business relationship:
- Contact form: name, email address, phone number (optional), company name (optional), requested service and your message.
- Communications: information you share by email, phone or messaging during our exchanges.
- Free audit: your website address, your email and your first name (optional), to send you the report and follow up about it.
- Site assistant: your questions and its answers are stored so we can reply and improve our answers. If you leave your contact details there, they are only used to get back to you. Answers are generated by an artificial intelligence hosted by Publicus Group.
- Newsletter: your email address, your first name (optional) and your profile (executive, elected official, investor…), along with the proof of consent required by Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation: sign-up date, confirmation date and IP address at the time of sign-up.
- Visit and reading statistics: anonymous, with no cookies (see section 8).
We do not collect sensitive data and never request banking details through the site.
3. Purposes and basis
- Respond to your enquiries and quote requests;
- Provide, manage and improve our services;
- Send you, with your consent, information about our offers;
- Meet our legal and accounting obligations.
Processing is based on your consent and/or on steps taken prior to entering into a contract.
4. Processors and transfers
We rely on a few providers, each for a specific task: Web3Forms routes contact-form messages to our mailbox; Vercel hosts the publicusgroup.ca website; Cloudflare securely routes our pages and emails; Brevo sends our emails, including the newsletter. The blog, the Barometer and our statistics are hosted on Publicus Group's own infrastructure. Some providers may be located outside Canada; we ensure they offer an adequate level of protection. We never sell or rent your personal data.
5. Retention
Your data is kept for as long as needed to handle your request, then for the period required by our legal and accounting obligations. Newsletter subscribers remain subscribed until they unsubscribe; proof of consent is kept for as long as the law requires. Visit and reading statistics are automatically deleted after 13 months. You may request deletion of your data at any time (see section 7).
6. Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data against loss, unauthorized access or disclosure. The site is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS).
7. Your rights
Under applicable law, you have the right to:
- access the information we hold about you;
- request its correction or update;
- request its deletion;
- withdraw your consent at any time.
To exercise these rights, email [email protected]. We respond within a reasonable timeframe. You may also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
8. Cookies and audience measurement
The site sets no cookies, neither advertising nor analytics. To learn which pages are useful, it measures its audience anonymously with an in-house tool hosted by Publicus Group: page viewed, referring site, device type, country, language and clicks on contact buttons. Pages of the same visit are linked by a random identifier kept in your browser tab and erased when it closes. No IP address is stored, and these statistics are never sold or shared. If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, nothing is measured.
On the blog and the Barometer (blog.publicusgroup.ca), we also measure reading, still without cookies and with the same in-house tool. Our goal is to publish reliable, genuinely useful information on digital technology and the market in New Brunswick: knowing which topics are read to the end helps us choose the next ones. To recognize a returning reader, a random identifier is kept in your browser's local storage; it stays until you clear the site's data.
- What is measured: the page or article read, the referring site (for example Google, Facebook or the newsletter), device type and screen width, language, actual reading time (tab open and reader active), how far down the page you scrolled, links clicked and form submissions.
- Location: the country and, where available, the approximate region and city, derived by Cloudflare at the time of the visit. We neither receive nor store your IP address.
- These statistics are never linked to your name or email address, even if you subscribe to the newsletter. They are never sold or shared.
- To opt out: turn on your browser's Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, or clear the site's data to reset the identifier.
